Every bowl that leaves this studio is a limited edition of exactly one. A hand-turned bowl begins as a single piece of wood — a slab cut from a specific tree, shaped by the grain that grew there over decades. Once it is turned, finished, photographed, and signed, that combination of figure, form, and finish will never exist again.
There is no second run. There is no production queue. There is one piece, and then the wood is gone.
Each piece is assigned a serial number, documented in its Certificate of Authenticity, and branded with the maker’s mark on the foot of the bowl.
No CNC machines, no mass-production tools. Each bowl takes 8–20 hours of hands-on work across multiple days.
Before a blank reaches the lathe, it is graded against the intensity of figure, the rarity of species, and the structural integrity of grain. All three grades ship with the same Certificate of Authenticity.
Reserved for the rarest, most exceptional figure — intense chatoyance, full cathedral arches, ribbon figure running corner to corner. Offered first to collectors on the studio waitlist.
Strong, visible figure throughout — consistent curl, pronounced shimmer, dramatic color variation. Figure is the dominant visual element and the form is built to match it.
Interesting is the entry bar — not a consolation tier. To make it into Talking Wood Studio at all, a piece must first be interesting. These pieces prove the grade system is about honesty, not hierarchy.
Every piece ships with a printed Certificate of Authenticity — a provenance document that travels with the piece across every transfer, gift, or resale.
Each piece carries a maker’s mark burned or branded on the foot of the bowl. Collectors verify authenticity by matching the mark on the piece to the mark in the certificate.
The mark is applied before the final finish coat. It is part of the piece, not an addition afterward.
Each piece below is a single edition. When a piece sells, its listing closes and is not restocked. Master Grade pieces are offered to the collector waitlist before public listing. Every piece ships free to the USA, Canada, and the UK with its Certificate of Authenticity.
The grain forms sweeping dune-like waves that shift and transform as you move around the piece. The shallow form amplifies the quilted figure, allowing the wood’s natural geometry to take center stage. Extremely rare.
