Maker’s Mark and Certificate of Authenticity
Every Talking Wood Studio piece leaves the studio with two permanent records of what it is and where it came from: an iron-branded maker’s mark on the base, and a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Together, they connect the physical object to its provenance for as long as it exists.
The Maker’s Mark
The maker’s mark is branded directly into the wood using a custom iron — not stamped, not printed, not applied as a label. The brand is permanent. It cannot be removed without damaging the piece, and it cannot be transferred to another object.
The mark identifies the piece as a Talking Wood Studio original. It is the physical anchor for everything the Certificate documents.
The Certificate of Authenticity
Each certificate is signed by the maker and includes:
The certificate travels with the piece. For collectors who resell or pass pieces down, the documentation remains valid and traceable through the serial number.
Why Provenance Matters at This Level
At the price point and craft level where Talking Wood Studio operates, provenance is not optional — it is part of what is being acquired.
A piece without documentation is an object. A piece with a traceable origin, a documented process, and a signed record is a work. That distinction matters to serious collectors, to estate valuations, and to the next generation that inherits the piece.
